About Us

The Fireplace Centre and Showroom is a family run business that was established in 1972 by William Smith and is now run by his son Ian. Ian completed a 3 year stonemasons apprenticeship at Westminster Abbey and has been fitting gas and solid fuel fires for the last 25 years. His stonemason skills are utilised extensively when making bespoke designs.

His colleague John Coombes has been fitting fires and surrounds for the last 26 years and his technical knowledge is second to none. He is a fully qualified Corgi Registered gas fitter.

It is the longest established Fireplace supplier in Maidenhead and the surrounding area. At The Fireplace Centre we do feel that the fireplace is traditionally the focal point around which the family gathers. Not only as a source of heat and light, but as a specific feature of the room that will add a new dimension of quality to your home.

In addition to the fireplaces and surrounds in the showroom, there is a vast selection of antique Victorian and Edwardian cast iron fireplaces which you can restore, or on your approval we will restore on your behalf to their former pristine condition to enhance your home with not only beauty but history.
