Here at Maidenhead Fireplace & Stove Centre, we don’t just install appliances, we maintain them too. Every woodburner and gas fire should be serviced annually to ensure it’s working safely, and most manufacturers require this to keep your warranty valid. Regular servicing also means any worn parts are caught and replaced before they can cause lasting damage to your appliance.

Your chimney should be swept at least once a year too. Regular sweeping clears soot, bird nests, cobwebs, and other blockages, and removes the creosote build-up that can lead to dangerous chimney fires or carbon monoxide spilling into the room. It also keeps your appliance running at its best. All certification we leave you with should be kept safely alongside your receipts and installation certificate in case a warranty claim ever needs to be raised.

Wood Burner Sweeping and Servicing

Our qualified engineers and chimney sweeps carry out a thorough annual service to keep wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves operating safely and efficiently. A typical visit includes:

Appliance inspection and cleaning, including the baffle, firebricks, door rope, glass, grate and internal airways.
Chimney and flue sweeping to remove soot, creosote and obstructions.
Smoke draw and spillage checks to confirm combustion gases are leaving safely.
Condition checks on seals, controls and replaceable components, with advice if any remedial work is needed.
Service and sweeping documentation for your records and warranty requirements.

Please clear the hearth, mantelpiece and grate of ornaments, fuel and ash before we arrive.

Gas Fire Servicing

Gas fires should be serviced regularly by a Gas Safe registered engineer to maintain safe, reliable operation. A typical service includes:

Visual inspection of the appliance, flue, ventilation and surrounding installation.
Cleaning of the burner, pilot assembly, fuel bed and accessible internal components.
Safety checks on ignition, controls, seals and flame supervision devices.
Flue-flow, spillage and combustion testing where applicable to the appliance.
Service records and recommendations for worn parts or further repairs.
